Office of Grants & Resource Development
Proposal Development & Submission

The proposal submission process must be authorized through one of these college departments:

Office of Grants and Resource Development - submits proposals in support of instructional programs and student support services.

Office of Economic and Resource Development - submits proposals in support of workforce training and economic development activities.

Long Beach City College Foundation - submits proposals in support of private fund raising efforts.

Evaluate the Funding Source or Grant Opportunity
When you find a funding source, careful consideration should be given to the appropriateness of the program. For general guidelines on evaluating a funding source, please click here. In addition, most funding agencies have their own websites and will most likely have ample grant program information available.

Working with the Office of Grants and Resource Development
If you are working with the Office of Grants and Resource Development, you are required to complete the Grants Process Form and encouraged to use the Concept Form as a guideline.

The Office of Grants and Resource Development will work with faculty and staff during all phases of proposal development and submission.

The grant initiator will meet with the grants staff to:
1. Discuss and develop project ideas, including plans to implement the project, if funded. The Concept Form and Grant Process Form should be initiated at this point.
2. Review potential external funding sources. Faculty and staff are encouraged to access the Research Database to assist them in finding funds.
3. Solicit participation from other related faculty, administrators, and staff as necessary.
4. Obtain and review all necessary grant guidelines and application materials.
5. Determine project responsibilities and timelines.

The Office of Grants and Resource Development staff will:
1. Review with the Grant Advisory Committee.
2. Coordinate proposal development activities and obtain appropriate boilerplate college information.
3. Provide technical assistance and editing of proposal narrative and budget.
4. Ensure proposal compliance with funding agency regulations.
5. Serve as a liaison with funding agency when questions arise.
6. Manage proposal process and keep process on schedule.
7. Obtain required approvals and signatures authorizing submission.
