Proposal guidelines will vary depending on the
agency or foundation in question. Each foundation or level of government has its own
method for distributing grant guidelines and information. For example, all
federally funded grant information has been centralized to one website:
grants.gov
However, there are general
guidelines for most proposals that you can use to development
your grant application. (Be sure to check our Proposal Submission link for more information.)
The resources to help you develop a
grant proposal are too numerous to list here in their entirety;
therefore, it is important to give yourself plenty of time to review the guidelines
before you begin developing your proposal.
The most important thing to remember is to follow the guidelines completely.
The biggest mistake people make when submitting a grant proposal is not reading the
grant guidelines completely and/or not submitting a proposal that meets those guidelines.
